Backwell Environment Trust was formed in 2005 to raise the funds to buy and protect the area of woodland on Backwell Hill, later called Jubilee Stone Wood.
BET became a registered charity on May 10th 2005 and since then has recorded over 40,000 hours of volunteer time managing, maintaining and enhancing Jubilee Stone Wood and Badgers Wood, acquired in 2009.
You can read more about BET's history and achievements in our latest bulletin, available on our home page.
To celebrate this milestone we are holding a special event on the reserves on Saturday 12th July. We invite members, friends and new visitors to join us at the BET Cabin to see displays of our work and join short guided wildlife walks, looking out for birds and butterflies in particular.
We have also devised a fun Quiz Trail around the reserves. The Quiz Trail will lead you up to the top of Badgers Wood and across to Jubilee Stone Wood, taking in some of the best features of the lovely reserves. Many of the questions are rather cryptic, but answers should be apparent if you keep your eyes open. The trail will take an hour to an hour and a half. Refreshments will be available back at the Cabin.
